Steps To Clear Up Your Skin

Controlling and managing acne can be a big ordeal. There are many causes of acne, especially in adults. Acne can be caused by fluctuating hormone levels, stress, occupational exposure, certain medications, and hereditary predisposition. If you have been suffering for several years of acne breakout, getting rid of them and clearing your skin does not over night. You need to know simple skin-clearing solutions, coupled with patience and perseverance to solve your acne problem. No matter what is causing your acne, there are simple ways to help you clear up your skin.

Many people who have acne have different methods and techniques to eliminate their acne and clear their skin. Even though one solution proved to be very effective in solving one’s acne problem, it will not mean it can be good enough for another. However, there is no harm in discovering simple yet effectual acne-fighting solutions.

Here are some of the usual ways to help clear-up your skin.

Thou shall not harm. Do no harm to your pimples. Plain and simple!!! You should not pick, press, rub, or even manipulate your acne. Are you guilty of this? I know many are. If you do, you are risking the spread of bacteria and increase the chances of scarring. When you pop the plug at the top of your pimple, the sebum, bacteria, and skin cells beneath can spread to your surrounding tissue and cause inflammation.

Benzoyl Peroxide Use. Over-the-counter ointments that contain benzoyl peroxide can help break up the plug of dead skin cells, bacteria, and oil in the pores, as well as reducing the bacteria. If you have sensitive skin, use benzoyl peroxide creams or ointments with the lowest concentration. The higher concentration, the more irritating it is on your sensitive skin. You can work your way up in terms of concentration if you see it necessary. You can use it once or twice a day. If it dries your skin, many dermatologists recommend the use of skin moisturizers.

Wash Your Face Properly. Dermatologists advise to use mild soap with warm water. Rub your skin lightly with your fingertips. Do not use a washcloth. If your skin is oily, you can use a mild soap with benzoyl peroxide (because of its drying properties ).

Take It Easy. Washing your face with soap and water does not get rid of your acne. You can wash your face ten times a day and still have acne. Go easy on your face. If you are too aggressive on your face, you will end up drying your skin or worse irritating it.

Never exfoliate. Since your skin is already irritated because of acne, you need not do anything that will worsen its state. Never use rough sponges, facial cleansers with granules, or anything else that will irritate the nature of your delicate skin.

Be cautious on oily products. Oily products such as promades or hair gels, oil-based moisturizers, and oily cleansers can contribute to the occurrence of acne or worsening of the oiliness of your skin.

Stick on Water-based Cosmetics. If you are not sure, set the bottle of the makeup on the counter. If it separates into water and powder, that is water based. If not, that is oil-based.

Don’t always rest your chin on your hands. This simply means don’t always touch your face. It can irritate your skin or your existing acne. Apart from that, you can introduce dirt and bacteria to your face if you constantly touch it.

These are just some of the simple ways you can prevent the occurrence of acne or control your acne so it won’t worsen. There are more you can do. You can ask a kin specialist for professional advice.
